American golfer Jon Rahm has tested positive for Covid-19 and been forced out of the latest PGA event in Ohio which he was leading by six shots.

Rahm was told of the news as he stepped off the 18th green at the end of his third round.

Ahead of the tournament the PGA tour told Rahm he was subject to contact-tracing protocols, as he had come in close contact with a person who was Covid positive.

Under PGA rules he was able to remain in the competition but had to undergo daily testing.

Initial tests came back negative but his most recent test which was performed after the conclusion of his second round came back positive.

Rahm is now in isolation, and will have to remain so until June 15th.

In a statement the PGA said throughout 50 events since the PGA Tour's Return to Golf, there have been only four positive tests (including Rahm) within competition.
