In October, the CNMI recorded 41,729 visitors, up more than 6,000 on October last year.

The Marianas' Visitor Authority said there was a massive lift in tourists flying in from South Korea - up 42 percent to just over 20,000.

Visitor numbers from China were down slightly and Japan recorded a major fall.
