There will be a heavy police presence in Dunedin tonight as Six60 takes to the stage in the city.
The band - which formed while living in the city's notorious student quarter at 660 Castle Street - will perform at Forsyth Barr Stadium tonight, a fortnight after 50,000 fans sold out Western Springs Stadium in Auckland.
Extra police officers will be in town to ensure the crowd's safety and good behaviour in the city afterwards.
Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen said extra officers had come into the city from Invercargill and Christchurch, and would take a dim view of those who overindulged.
He gave some advice to concert-goers to ensure they had a fun evening.
"It's about looking out for each other and staying safe," he said. "We have got staff working the weekend to focus on the alcohol harm that occurs every weekend in our city."
Three years ago 18 people were injured after a balcony collapsed during a performance by Six60 at a private property in Castle Street.
