The Returned & Services Association says fewer poppies were probably sold on the street this year because of the rough weather.
The association's annual Poppy Day on Thursday coincided with a storm that swept the country.
RSA chief executive David Moger said people were out selling all the same.
He said opportunities remain to buy poppies at places like Z service stations and ANZ bank branches before Anzac Day on 25 April.
Mr Moger said the RSA will probably get figures of Poppy Day sales next week.
