A 21-year-old Iranian has been taken in by Fiji police and immigration officials as he was on his way to the Immigration Department in Suva to meet with the Director, Nemani Vuniwaqa this morning.
Loghman Sawari fled to Fiji from Papua New Guinea and was on his way to Suva from the western division with his lawyer Aman Ravindra-Singh.
Mr Sawari and Mr Singh were in Korotogo Sigatoka at about 7.30am when their vehicle was intercepted by police and he was then taken into a police vehicle.
According to Mr Singh, Mr Sawari was quickly put in a Immigration Department vehicle in Sigatoka Town.
Mr Singh is now chasing the vehicle to get some answers.
Fiji Village reported it had received information that Mr Sawari came to Fiji with a PNG passport and had misleading information on his Immigration Arrival Card
He was a declared refugee in PNG.
