A crash between two trucks has left two people injured and blocked part of State Highway 36, the road between Rotorua and Tauranga.
One of the trucks' drivers is in a critical condition. The other has minor injuries, police said in a statement.
The collision between two lightweight trucks was reported to emergency services about 9:30am on Wednesday.
NZTA said the road was closed a tthe scene, but a detour was operating.
The area was still in heavy fog, police said, just before 11am on Wednesday, and asked motorists to drive carefully and adjust their speed.
