NZ Red Cross tsunami appeal winds down

17:04 pm on 30 November 2009

The New Zealand Red Cross says its appeal for the victims of last September's earthquake and tsunami in Samoa has collected more than two million US dollars.

The appeal will officially close today but money will continue to be accepted into the fund until the end of the year.

The New Zealand Red Cross says as with all special appeal funds, 100 percent of donations received, as well as any interest earned, will support the work of Red Cross in Samoa.

It says it will make a real difference to the lives of those affected by the disaster.
