Vanuatu petitioners over election irregularities say they can force Port Vila by-election

In Vanuatu the leader of a group of disgruntled unsuccessful candidates in last week's poll, former prime minister, Barak Sope, says they expect the backing of more than a 1000 voters in Port Vila for a petition questioning the credibility of the election.

Mr Sope says they are confident they can force a by-election in the multi seat Port Vila constituency.

Their concerns include the irregular size of the ballot paper and the late movement of polling stations just before the election, which they claim denied many voters a chance to vote.
