New Zealand First is continuing to push for more changes to the latest firearms legislation.

The Police Minister relies on the party's votes to get the law passed. Last April, a law banning certain weapons and parts passed with near unanimous political support in the wake of the Christchurch mosque attacks that left 51 people dead.

When this latest legislation was unveiled late last year, National put out its long list of demands in return for its support.

Police Minister Stuart Nash opted instead to get coalition partner, New Zealand First, on board and the party is using its leverage to secure further changes.
