Three men from the Duff Islands in Solomon Islands Temotu Province have been jailed for assaulting women.
Two have been jailed for 11 months and one for nine.
All three defendants were charged with single counts of assault causing actual bodily harm.
The local police commander, Superintendent James Toaki, has called on people in Temotu not to take the law into their own hands and respect vulnerable members of the community.
He also encouraged female victims of assault to report to police.
