Australian surfer Sally Fitzgibbons backed up her win at Bells Beach last week and assumed the world No.1 ranking by winning the women's world tour event in New Plymouth on Saturday.
Fitzgibbons defeated the defending champion Hawaiian Carissa Moore in the final at Back Beach.
Local hope Paige Hareb was knocked out at the quarter-final stage by another Hawaiian, Coco Ho.
