A young bull which was on the loose in suburban Christchurch has been contained.

Police started receiving reports of sightings of the bull near Barrington Street in Addington from about 6.30am today.
The bull was tracked down by police and animal control to Sydenham cemetery, and is now contained and waiting to be picked up by its owner.
It is believed to have come from the A&P Showgrounds.
