Travellers are advised to check with the airlines for the latest information.

The strike has unravelled travel plans for hundreds of people across the territory and camp beds were put up at the airport in Tahiti for those stuck because of the industrial action.

The international carrier Air Tahiti Nui has also been affected and altered the schedule of its Los Angeles and Auckland flights.

The strike was called because depending on the airport, some firefighters are employed by the state and others by a private company.
