The two organisations signed the agreement in Manila this month.

The aim of the partnership is to work together to improve policy analysis, public sector management and quality education in the Pacific.

The ADB wants to focus specifically on developing better climate and disaster resilient infrastructure projects and build knowledge sharing facilitation in the region. It also wants to find practical and sustainable solutions to a range of development issues and said its furthering its work in the region to reduce poverty.

USP is one of only two regional universities in the world and this allows for an enhanced partnership on mutually agreed joint work programmes and knowledge sharing.

The two first partnered up in 2009 when the government of India gave USP a one million dollar grant through the ADB to upgrade the university's tech network.
