English rugby league star Sam Burgess will leave the South Sydney Rabbitohs at the end of the 2014 NRL season to make a code switch with the English premiership rugby union club Bath.

The news ends weeks of speculation about the forward's future, with the two clubs reaching a financial settlement believed to be worth about $900,000.

Burgess says he aims to play for England at the 2015 Rugby World Cup, revealing a long-held ambition to become a dual international.
