A man serving life for killing a teenager in the back of a prison van has been found guilty of threatening to stab a prison guard.

George Charlie Baker was charged with threatening grievous bodily harm after an incident in Auckland Prison at Paremoremo in August last year, while moving cells.

The jury deliberated for nearly seven hours across two days in the Auckland District Court before coming back with a guilty verdict this afternoon.

Baker was convicted in 2006 of strangling 17-year-old Liam Ashley.
