Samoa's first group of 30 workers to get seasonal jobs in New Zealand has returned, with one of them facing prosecution for breach of immigration laws.
The group was part of a trial for a regular work scheme but one member left his job to stay with a relative instead.
The workers had been selected by the Ministry of the Prime Minister and Cabinet as a trial using the process for selecting workers under New Zealand's new seasonal workers scheme.
The ministry's chief executive officer, Auseuga'efa Va'asatia, says the New Zealand Mr Apple Company is overwhelmed by the good performance of the group despite the behaviour of one person.
Auseuga'efa says more than 4,000 people have applied for seasonal jobs under the new scheme.
