$12m of meth seized at Auckland airport

Customs says four tourists have appeared in court after methamphatamine worth $12 million was seized at Auckland airport.

The two men and two women appeared at the Manukau District Court today, charged with importing and possessing a class A drug.

Customs officers approached them at Auckland airport on Saturday.

Customs said more than 12 kilograms of methamphetamine was found in suitcases at the airport on Saturday.

The four, who are in their early-to-mid 20s, appeared in the Manukau District Court today and were remanded in custody until their next court date.
