Police have found that the death of a nine-month-old baby in a Napier house overnight was not suspicious.
Detective Sergeant Darren Pritchard said emergency services were called to the home in the suburb of Marewa at 2.45am on Saturday.
The baby was confirmed dead a short time later, he said.
Officers spoke to people who were at the house at the time in a bid to piece together what happened.
The baby's death was treated as unexplained but police said in a statement today that they had concluded the inquiry and were forwarding details to the Coroner.
