The first Supported Teen Parent Home opened in Gisborne on Friday, the seventh of its kind in New Zealand.
Since January, the Government has opened support homes in Auckland, Manukau, Christchurch, Rotorua, Hastings and Whangarei.
The Te Aka Ora House will support young parents in the Gisborne area with 24-hour supervision of trained staff, social workers and volunteers.
Social Development Minister Paula Bennett says the National-led Government has put $15 million into teen parents services, the biggest investment to date.
Ms Bennett says the support homes have already helped 45 mothers and their babies.
