With the opening of the trans-Tasman bubble, normal procedures will resume for those people deported from Australia.
After a pause in deportations when Covid-19 hit, a dedicated managed isolation facility was set up in central Auckland for deportees.
Managed isolation and quarantine (MIQ) head Brigadier Jim Bliss said the Ramada Hotel in Federal Street was no longer in use.
He said given the small number of rooms, it would not be suitable as a contingency MIQ facility.
Decisions about whether the hotel wouold be used for other purposes were still being finalised.
Deportees will be met at Auckland Airport by police and in some cases Corrections as well.
