Police have named the man who died in a helicopter crash near Lindis Pass, in Central Otago, yesterday.
He was 32-year-old Liam Edwards, who was from Southland.
Mr Edwards died at the scene of the crash.
Another 51-year-old man was taken to Dunedin Hospital with head and chest injuries.
He is in a stable condition.
Radio New Zealand understands the Cromwell-based Aurum Helicopters owned the crashed helicopter, believed to be a Robinson R22.
The company is owned by the local Sargison family, and Murray Sarginson is believed to be the injured man.
Police and the Civil Aviation Authority are investigating the crash.
