Dargaville main street stays closed

18:11 pm on 12 January 2009

Dargaville's main street is to remain closed for at least another week as work begins to clear asbestos from the remains of a gutted block of shops.

Five shops in Victoria Street were destroyed by fire last week.

Kaipara district mayor Neil Tiller said on Monday that it was likely to take up to to 10 days to get the asbestos cleared, before demolition work could begin.
