The American sprinter Tyson Gay has undergone an arthroscopic procedure on his injured right hip and will not run again this year.

Gay, the world's second fastest man behind Usain Bolt, had the surgery earlier this week.

The manager of the world 100 metre silver medalist says he expects him to start training again in a couple of months.
