National selects by-election candidate

The National Party has selected Mark Osborne as its candidate for the Northland by-election.

The seat became vacant when the National MP Mike Sabin resigned for personal reasons last month.

Mr Osborne, who was selected at a party meeting in Kerikeri today, lives in Taipa and works as an asset manager for the Far North District Council.

He said he was keen to get on with the campaign.

"Really looking forward to getting out there on the streets and talking to people. And motivating our voters with the great things we have achieved so far, and the things that we are looking to do in the future.

"So [we] don't underestimate the task at hand but we're looking forward to it."

Mr Osborne also the former general manager of Te Ahu Charitable Trust and has experience running a family-owned local business, Doubtless Beauty.

Mr Osborne and his wife Jodi have two children.
