Mill workers given two days to volunteer for redundancy

Employees at an Otago timber mill are being given a short time to volunteer for redundancy.

The owner of Blue Mountain Lumber in Tapanui on Tuesday announced it is cutting 65 of 110 jobs because of a large drop in demand for framing timber.

National Distribution Union organiser Ken Young says the company has given them until Thursday to come forward for voluntary redundancy and the company will decide on Friday.
