A now independent French Polynesian assembly member Angelo Frebault is about to join the ruling Tapura Huiraatira Party - two months after being expelled from the opposition Tahoeraa Huiraatira Party.

Before this year's election, Mr Frebault was a union leader spearheading a general strike against the government's pension reform.
Weeks before the April polls he entered politics and joined the opposition Tahoeraa on whose list he was elected to the assembly.
Once elected he refused to follow the party directive and abstained when the pension reform was put to a vote.
The Tahoeraa then dumped him, with the president Gaston Flosse describing his action as a betrayal.
Refusing to cede his seat to another Tahoeraa politician, Mr Frebault remained as an independent but told local media now that he would join the Tapura.
