The ministers are receiving the jab in an effort to publicly reinforce its safety and effectiveness, and help combat vaccine hesitancy.

Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins and Associate Health Minister Ayesha Verrall will be the first, receiving their shots tomorrow.

The government has also written to other political parties inviting their MPs with health- and Covid-19-focused portfolios to also be vaccinated.
