The governor had also allocated separate money for staff development at the LBJ Medical Center, which Lolo said was faced with financial challenges.

He wanted $US300,000 to allow a feasibility study and design of a new medical centre to move forward.

Lolo said improvements to the territory's healthcare services continued to be among the government's highest priorities and the vision was to have the best healthcare services available in the region.

Money was also being earmarked for staff training at the LBJ's Dialysis Unit.

He said the hospital's financial issues have made it difficult for it to provide the necessary professional training for staff at the unit which has just opened.
