The Australian government has signed an agreement this week giving the government of Samoa almost seven million US dollars for post-Cylone Evan support.

The agreement, signed in Apia by the chief executive of the Ministry of Finance, Tupa'imatuna Iulai Lavea and the head of AusAID in Samoa, Anthony Stannard, follows the announcement made in February by the Australian Foreign Minister, Bob Carr.

Talamua Online reports the funding will rebuild schools and medical facilities damaged by the cyclone.

Eighteen schools and nine health clinics were either completely destroyed or sustained damage.
