The A'ufaga resort was one of the hotels and beach fales devastated by the tsunami in September 2009.

The Seabreeze's operators, Australian couple Chris and Wendy Booth, said their success was the result of the hard work and the dedication of their 32 local staff.

"We've grown this amazing team that we've got now from little boys and girls who came from school who were scared to speak.

"I remember the first time we opened in in 2007 and [one of the staff] came to me and said 'I can't speak English' and I said 'you can speak to me, you can speak the them,' and now, he's one of the managers."

The resort has also won the Excellence in Tourism and Best Deluxe awards in Samoa's Tourism annual award in 2017 and 2018.

In 2016 Seabreeze was recognised as the number one hotel in Upolu island, ranked 11 out of 25 for the Top 25 small hotels in the South Pacific.

It had also voted 9th in the Top 25 resorts in the South Pacific Romance in the 2016 Trip Advisor Traveller's choice awards.
