A person has died and another is in a critical condition after a crash on State Highway 2 in the western Bay of Plenty.
The two-vehicle crash happened at Tanners Point, between Katikati and Waihi at about 4:50pm.
The Serious Crash Unit has been advised.
The road was closed but is expected to be fully open again at about 9.30pm.
Police said traffic management was in place for a short time with one lane open to traffic.
