Many roads in Manawatū remain cut off by flooding, some people can't return to their homes, and helicopters have flown over isolated communities to assess the damage from two torrential downpours to hit the region this week.
In Te Reureu Valley, up to 30 people have been cut off after bridges into the area were washed out.
In Feilding, more than a dozen people were evacuated because of flash flooding.
