Three I-Kiribati men who drifted without food and water for 24 days at sea arrived safely in the Solomon Islands capital, Honiara yesterday after a fishing vessel rescued them.
The Solomon Star says the three men were returning from a funeral on Nonousi Island and heading towards Tapiteuea Island when they were caught in rough seas.
The three had food and water for five days after which they survived on drinking their urine and salt-water.
With little fuel left, they managed to reach a fishing boat that took them to Honiara.
The trio is expected to return to Kiribati next week.
