A seemingly dramatic rescue is under way on Auckland's Waitematā Harbour, but it's not what it seems.

A crew member has been seen being winched from the rescue helicopter onto a yacht off Beach Haven.
The chopper then escorted the boat down the harbour.
However, the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust says it's part of a winching training exercise with the Coastguard.
The helicopter will be active over the next two days in the Upper Harbour and Brown's Island area.
