Broadcasting Minister Clare Curran says she still wants RNZ to eventually evolve into an operation that runs a stand-alone TV channel.

Speaking on TVNZ's Q and A this morning, Ms Curran said how quickly that could happen would depend on how much money was available once the Budget process had been completed.
RNZ's chair and chief executive have both said they do not expect RNZ to operate a stand-alone RNZ+ channel and it was more likely the company would expand its multi-media content on several platforms.

Ms Curran said the RNZ+ policy still stands.
"That is ultimately part of the longer term intention getting there is what I am calling an evolution," she said.
It was false to say there was disagreement between her and RNZ's management, she said.
RNZ executive Carol Hirschfeld resigned earlier this week after lying to RNZ's chair and chief executive about the nature of a meeting with Ms Curran.
Ms Curran has also come under intense scrutiny for initially failing to declare the meeting in a response to a written parliamentary question, which she subsequently had to correct.
