Two people have been arrested following the assault of a young girl in Invercargill at the weekend which circulated on social media.
The video appeared to have been taken between 4pm and 4.30pm at Southland Girls' High School, near Splash Palace swimming pool, on Sunday and showed two girls delivering multiple kicks and punches to the young victim's head and body.
Police in Invercargill said two offenders believed to be responsible have been arrested and are facing charges in relation to the assault.
A spokesperson said police want to thank the public for their assistance and remind people sharing offensive material online is prohibited and anyone in possession of the video is encouraged to delete it immediately.
No further details of the offenders were provided.
