Laser sailor Andrew Murdoch isn't getting too excited just yet after a great start to his Olympic regatta off Qingdao.

Murdoch recorded a second and a fifth to top the standings.

Murdoch had two very good starts and also picked a couple of wind shifts and team manager Russell Green says he came off the water feeling pretty good about things.

Boardsailor Tom Ashley has improved to third after scoring a seventh and a first today, while Barbara Kendall is up to sixth in the women's section.

The men's 470 crew of Peter Burling and Carl Evans have slipped slightly after four races down to 11th, while Jo Aleh is 11th after two races in the Laser Radial.
