The former secretary to Niue's government, Richard Hipa, has announced his intention to become an MP.
Mr Hipa, the former long-time top public servant on the island, announced his candidacy for Alofi north yesterday.
The Broadcasting Corporation of Niue said the current clerk of the assembly, Cherie Morris-Tafatu, also announced her candidacy.
Niue will go to the polls on the 30th of May.
