Two Fiji police officers, charged with rape and tasked with investigating the former assistant commissioner of police, have again been in court.
Manasa Talala and Viliame Vereivalu are among nine police officers and military personnel charged with the rape of Vilikesi Soko in 2014 who died after allegedly being beaten while in police custody.
The pair are also charged with defeating the course of justice by instructing other police officers to make false statements.
The nine were in court as the defence sought more time to prepare for their case.
The group was initially also charged with manslaughter but that charge was dropped late last year.
The nine, who have been free on bail, are due back in court next month.
Manasa Talala and Viliame Vereivalu are among the officers tasked with investigating the former assistant commissioner of police, Henry Brown, for unspecified allegations against him.
Mr Brown tendered his resignation this week after being sent on leave with full pay in December by the acting commissioner, Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho.
His letter of resignation has appeared on the website, Fiji Leaks, in which Mr Brown says flaws in the inquiry will deny him natural justice.
