A fire call out to Auckland Civic Theatre has ended without flames.
Fire crews were called just before midday after smoke was spreading through the historic building.
A faulty fog cannon apparently triggered the alarm, RNZ was told.
An RNZ reporter at the scene said there were seven fire trucks and a St John vehicle there.
The Civic Theatre opened in 1929 and is one of downtown Auckland's most distinctive heritage buildings.
The musical Kinky Boots is set to open at the theatre tonight and the production will continue today as scheduled.
