The speaker of parliament Jiko Luveni confirmed this during last week's induction workshop for members of parliament.

Frank Bainimarama's FijiFirst party has 27 seats giving it a three seat majority in the 51 seat parliament.

The SODELPA party led by Sitiveni Rabuka has 21 seats after winning just under 40 percent of the vote.

The National Federation Party has retained its three seats in parliament.

It is understood the official leader of the parliamentary opposition will also be decided during the first sitting.
