The changes came into effect on 27 September.

A spokesperson for Jetstar Airways New Zealand said it was only a minor change.

"It's always been our process to ask for identification when passengers check-in at the counter for their domestic boarding pass and we've aligned this to passengers dropping off bags as well," the spokesperson said.

The accepted ID types included passport, driver's license, an original or certified copy of a birth certificate or citizenship document, student ID or aviation/airport authority-issued ID.

ID must be the original or a certified copy.
