American Samoa's acting governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga has told a cabinet meeting that Governor Lolo Moliga has awoken and is making a slow and gradual recovery.

The governor underwent a heart operation in a US hospital.
Lemanu said in his conversation with the First Lady on Monday, she said that the governor was beginning to move his fingers and would respond when his fingers were pressed.
He opened his eyes and was cognizant and began speaking but he was not able to carry a conversation for long.
