Dengue cases in Palau dropped nearly 50 percent from June to July.
The Island Times reports that after nine months of steadily increasing numbers the month of July showed a 46 percent drop, the first major drop in confirmed cases this year.
In May the number of cases jumped from 33 to 74 and in June reached 122.
The June figure was partially attributed to a consolidation of reports from private clinics with the national hospital but only five out of Palau's 16 states now have reported cases.
However the current figure of 66 is still well above the safe threshold of 10 cases per month.
