Queenstown records more Covid-19 cases and locations of interest

Queenstown has recorded another 22 new Covid-19 cases bringing its total to 56.

The Southern District Health Board confirmed of its 30 new cases, most were in Queenstown, four were in Gore, two were in Dunedin and two were in Invercargill.

There are a number of new Queenstown locations of interest including a McDonald's restaurant, an Irish pub and flights from Queenstown to Auckland - for a full list and details check the Ministry of Health's website.

There are 450 close contacts in isolation throughout the Southern region, 332 of them are in the Queenstown Lakes district.

The DHB says a Covid-19 test will be required 48 to 72 hours before surgery as an added layer of protection for patients and staff.

All visitors to Southern hospitals have to wear medical masks.

Ward patients are allowed two registered visitors during their entire admission - and only one of them a day.
