The Papua New Guinea Ombudsman Commission has referred the former opposition leader, Belden Namah, to the Public Prosecutor for alleged misconduct in office.
The Post Courier says Mr Namah is accused of 16 cases of misconduct, including a failure to declare his election expenses and failure to acquit public funds among others.
The Commission says it investigated the allegations, which arose from his failure in upholding his duties and responsibilities of office under the Constitution and Organic Law on the Duties and Responsibilities of Leadership.
Other high-profile politicians who have been referred include the Public Service Minister Sir Puka Temu, the Public Enterprises and State Investment Minister Ben Micah, the Works Minister Francis Awesa, the Tourism Minister Boka Kondra and Manus Open MP Ronny Knight.
