The union representing fast-food workers is calling on New Zealanders to show support for McDonald's staff by choosing to eat elsewhere.

Unite Union members staged protests in several main centres yesterday to try and get McDonald's to drop controversial zero-hour contracts.
McDonald's said it had made a meaningful and genuine offer to get rid of the contracts.
The union's national director, Mike Treen, said the offer did not go far enough.
He said the union had been invited back into talks with the company but, in the meantime, it would ramp up its campaign.
