American Samoa Senator, Satele Galu Satele, wants an official report presented to the Senate on the health status of Governor Lolo Moliga.
Satele said the Fono and the public have a right to be informed of the governor's medical condition.
"The governor doesn't serve just one branch of the government but the whole territory," said Satele.
He told fellow senators the public has been asking for information about the governor's illness but has been ignored.
Satele recommended the Senate ask for a written report about the governor's health.
Governor Lolo left American Samoa in early February for meetings in Washington DC.
But after undergoing medical checkups in Honolulu, he travelled to Seattle where he underwent an operation related to kidney complications.
The Senate announced yesterday that the governor is scheduled to return to American Samoa tonight.
