Thirteen fire trucks are trying to get a large blaze in Mount Maunganui under control.

Fire and Emergency says they were called to Waimarie Street at 9am today.
They are trying to stop the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.
There is a lot of smoke in the area and Waimarie Street is closed.
The fire is close to State Highway 2 and motorists are being asked to take extra care.
